Callout 22/01/2013

Skerries RNLI Atlantic 75

Skerries Lifeboat launched for our first service of 2013 at 06:45 this morning.
The boat was launched to reports of a casualty on the rocks near Barnagheera, between Balbriggan and Skerries.
Arriving on scene it appeared that a vehicle had skidded on ice and travelled down a grassy cliff onto the beach/rocks below.
Several units of the Dublin Fire Brigade were already on scene, and had successfully recovered the driver from the vehicle.
Thankfully the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and did not appear to be suffering any life threatening injuries.
Conditions on scene were fine with a force 1 to 2 NNE and very little swell, however the air temperature was -2.5C.
The lifeboat was stood down at 07.01 and returned to the station to be refuelled and made ready for our next service.
