Pride of Place

Skerries RNLI Pride of Place

Yesterday a team visited Skerries to judge its place in the ‘Pride of Place’ competition.  The visit to Skerries was short and sweet but we launched the boat to show Community spirit.  The Judges diverted from their planned itinerary and came to the station and greeted the crew before moving on to their next point of call at the Springers.  The volunteer crew launched the lifeboat and stood off the Springers and Red Island whilst the inspection was taking place.

Berniann Condon and Jane Landy,  members of the organising committee, sent the email below to everyone involved.  Hopefully, our small part in yesterdays proceedings will help win a positive vote and push Skerries to the top of the rankings, proving what we all know already!

"We wanted to say a huge thank you to everybody for the effort that went into making yesterday such a great day. Some of us are taking holidays now but ‘Tidy Towners’ will still be on tender hooks until the judging for that competition is completed, some time between now and early August, so every effort at keeping the town looking as well as it did yesterday will be appreciated no doubt.

Please forward this email to members of your groups that I don’t have a contact email for – yesterday was such a great community effort that we want to make sure that all the contributions are acknowledged.

Next week we will post photos of the day and a link of the film coverage of the event that was taken by Fingal TV.

Thank you again

Berniann & Jane "
