Skerries RNLI rescue four men after speedboat drifts on to rocks
Skerries RNLI volunteer crew carried out an exercise to mimic removing an injured crewman from a trawler. The purpose of the exercise was to give the crew an idea of the potential hazards and difficulties they might face on board a fishing vessel. They then carried out an exercise in setting up the salvage pump.
A cold and wet winter's morning in Skerries made for some perfect conditions to use our training exercise today for some boat handling practice. The helm wore the built in helmet camera to get some footage. Watch from the helm and crew's perspective navigating our Atlantic 85 through some moderate sea conditions during training.
Skerries RNLI towed a yacht with two men on board to safety yesterday evening (09 August) after the vessel suffered engine failure.
Morning exercise with the Dublin Coast Guard helicopter off Skerries. The winchman did a static lift onto Skerries lifeboat and two lifeboat crew members did wet lifts taken from the water.
